This paper investigates the structural linkages between human capital development, capital formation, and long-term economic growth in Nigeria. Historically, macroeconomic planning within developing Sub-Saharan African economies heavily favoured physical capital accumulation, often treating human resource metrics as supplementary social welfare parameters rather than fundamental engines of production. Integrating endogenous growth models, this study establishes human capital not merely as an alternative production input, but as a primary mechanism of gross fixed capital formation necessary to optimize physical assets and absorb technological innovations. Through a comprehensive analytical framework incorporating formal education metrics, vocational training capacity, and health-capital infrastructure, we identify the systemic friction points—including capital flight ("brain drain"), curriculum-market mismatches, and institutional capacity constraints—that disrupt the domestic transmission mechanism between public expenditure and output expansion. The paper concludes with actionable policy paradigms aimed at synthesizing educational outputs with the technical manpower requirements of high-value growth sectors.
