                  abstract = {In Africa, women's involvement in crisis management and conflict resolution is becoming more widely recognised as crucial to achieving long-term peace and prosperity. African women have continuously taken on vital responsibilities as mediators, negotiators, community mobilisers, and peace builders at both the local and national levels while being routinely left out of official peace processes throughout history. This essay examines the important contributions, inherent difficulties, and transformative potential of women's participation in crisis management and conflict resolution across the continent. Using case studies from Liberia, Rwanda, Sudan, and Nigeria, the study highlights the importance of women's unique perspectives and approaches, often based on community cohesion, dialogue, and reconciliation in enhancing the effectiveness of peace programs. The book explores the institutional, cultural, and structural barriers to full involvement and offers policy suggestions for incorporating gender inclusion into reconciliation projects. By emphasising women's agency, this study highlights the need for a gender-sensitive approach to conflict management in Africa.},
