Abstract

Miniaturization techniques regarding the design of transmission lines are reviewed based on metamaterials, energy efficiency, and operating frequency. It shrinks circuits and line spaces strategically without compromising performance. It supports techniques that are aimed at improving the space and performance. The metamaterials are synthetized structured materials that have unique and unusual properties (such as photonic crystals, plasmonic, etc.) thereby possessing important manipulative properties that can be utilized in the design of antennas, filters, lenses, sensors, controllers, and so on. Miniaturization supports efficient use of energy among components through several computational and mechanical techniques like minimizing number of components, material loading, shorting and folding, ground-plane modification, slotting, metamaterials, and so on. In the mechanical systems, miniaturization depends on maintaining or improving response of operating frequency by considering several efforts to reduce size of systems. Miniaturization technology reduces the size of circuits and lines thereby enhancing performance.
